Air conditioning Servicing

Servicing is extremely important in the efficient running of anything electrical or indeed mechanical. Computers need memory erasing or formatting to enable it to run faster and smoother, cars and motorcycles need servicing / tuning to again make it run smoother and more efficient as do air conditioning units. A well serviced Air Conditioning unit not only runs better ( Heating quicker or cooling quicker ) but it in turn reduces its operating / running costs significantly, sometimes up to several hundred pounds annually so it’s very important to get it serviced regularly.

Typically with a Air conditioning system service we would carry out the following:

Check the coolant pressure ( ensuring that the equipment is operating at its most efficient )
Check and clean the condenser coil ( again ensuring that the equipment is operating at its most efficient )
Checking that the evaporator coil is clean ( once more ensuring that the equipment is operating at its most efficient )
Checking and tightening ( where appropriate ) all wiring, final connections, relays, capacitors and so forth to minimise any chance of intermediate faults and thus saving you more money on additional call out costs.
Ensuring and cleaning where appropriate the condensate drain to avoid damage to the fabric of the building due to
water leaking.
Check the compressor for both operation and overheating.
Inspect the condenser fan motor and fan blades for signs of wear or damage
Additional inspections of pipe work for damage, pipe lagging for missing or damaged lagging etc.

Air conditioning repairs

Has your Air Conditioning unit stopped working or working but not as it should? Then give us a call and we’ll arrange for a member of our staff to call out and sort it for you. What’s more, some of the problems you give us over the telephone can be sorted by yourselves at no cost, ie it may be that the controller is set wrongly where we will gladly advise you what to do over the phone. All we ask when you call is that you can provide us with as much information about the faulty unit for example, Make, Model and age of the condenser / outdoor unit along with the refrigerant type R22, R410a, R407c etc (all of which can be found on a label on the front or side on the said condenser)

If the problem can’t be sorted over the telephone then we’ll make arrangement for one of our engineer to visit. We endeavour to get you back up and running the very same day subject to parts availability.

R22 Phase Out

From 1st January 2015, it has been against the law to use R22 refrigerant to uphold or refurbish air-conditioning systems throughout the UK.

As of 2014 European Regulations were put in place, that make it unlawful for anyone to service or maintain any air conditioning or refrigeration system that contains R22 refrigerant gas.

In the event that yours was fitted before 2004, you need to be preparing to change it as quickly as possible.

You don’t have to take away all of your current pipe work and wiring however you must upgrade your equipment and make sure your system is free from R22 refrigerant.

The best part about it is the fact that current air-conditioning systems operate more beneficial as they are as much as 50% more efficient compared to outdated models. R22 replacement solutions have competitive payback periods, which may be as short as two to three years.
